| Short description | There used to be a small Roman water keep in the place of today's castle in the beginning of the 13th century. That keep was battered down during the 15th century and a new Gothic mansion was built on his place, and rebuilt in Renaissance style with participation of architect Benedikt Rejt. In the 19th century modified in English Gothic style. English park and deer park enclosed. |
| Expositions | Castle interiors furnitured mostly with family Hildprandt's collections. In so called "Green Room" in keep's tower are wall paintings from the 15th century - figural pictures in a rich ornamental decor, shields of eminent aristocracy families in the Bohemia (only as a part of so called EXTENDED tour.) Fallow deer breeding in the deer park. |
| Interesting detail | The castle belonged also to Lev from Rožmitál, a famous leader of king Jiří z Poděbrad's representative delegation, whose description by Václav Šašek from Bířkov became the first czech travel book. |
| Valuation | The main exposition today is one especially about the Hildprandts family. A part is of objects imported from african countries and Asia, the other part is of the interior furniture from the 18th and 19th century and paintings gallery of the family. |

| Arrive | Car The best acces is through road 20 from Písek or Lnáře. There is a small free parking close to the castle, yet it is easier to park in the enclosed streets when coming from Písek. Public Transport The town is on train tracks 191 and 208. Direct track to Prague. The castle is a little over 1 km far from the station. |

| Touristic marks |  Blue mark goes from Myštice (cca 11 kms), on the end of Blatná city crosses yellow mark and then goes alongside brook Jesec. Green mark starts at bus station Blatná (cca 0,5 km), goes around the castle and continues towards Blatenka (cca 4 kms). Red mark starts at bus station Blatná (cca 0,5 km) and leads to Buzice (cca 4 kms), Škvořetice (cca 7,5 kms) and Sedlice (cca 11 kms). Yellow mark comes from Bezdědovice (cca 2,5 kms) through bus station Blatná (cca 0,5 km) and then leads to Buzice (cca 4 kms) and ends inMyštice (cca 11 kms). |
