Prevalent styleBaroque (incl. rococo)
Short descriptionFort built in Kácov in the middle of the 15th century. Reconstructed after 1635 and extended with a small Baroque castle with a wooden floor. Castle reconstructed during 1727-33 into a Baroque mansion in Italian Baroque style. Rebuilt into flats for Forest Boards employees in 1918.
Interesting detailSome windows facing river are dead and have nobility figures painted on them. Legend says it is for the vassals working on the fields to think they are constantly watched by their peers.
ValuationThis castle is closed for public. But it's a nice example of Baroque architecture in the 18th century. Toscan princess Anna Marie's second mansion (after Zákupy). Exteriors are also an interesting example of North Italian Baroque architecure.
