Short descriptionOriginally a small Gothic keep from the 13th century, partially destroyed a few times. After yeah 1398 Herlat from Kunštát had a new and larger keep complex built near. Gothic and Renaissance modifications done in the 15th and 16th century. Had been wasting away and taking to pieces since the 18th century. Today it is mostly a ruin.
ExpositionsDistrict of the keep's ruins with remains of broad fortifications. Remains of palaces with a few halls in the keep's core. Exposition of the estate's history in the preserved part of the keep, by the main entrance.
Interesting detailThere is a legend about the origins of this keep and of its alleged forefather from Boskovics family. It is about bird catcher Velen who was gifted this landscape a feud by a moravian margrave. This legend has been noted in already in the 16th century.
ValuationThe keep is a very well preserved ruin, which documents the constructional development, especially of the fortification techniques. It is also a history of rebuilding a Gothick keep into a Renaissance mansion.

The best access is road 43 from Brno and then depart at signs to Boskovice onto road 18. You can park for free in Boskovice, cca 200 metres from square. A limited number of parking places on square.
Public Transport
Train station is right in Boskovice (track 262) between Moravská Třebová and Blansko. The keep with the castle are cca 1.1 kms far from the station.
