Short descriptionThe ruins of an, in its time unique, Gothic castle built for Jíra from Roztoky by the end of the 14th century. Renamed to "The Red Chateau" in 1662, partially damaged by bavarian army two years later and it was completely damaged by the fire in 1783. Conservative selvage operations in the last years.
ExpositionsA large amount of preserved unique Gothic structural members. Half-cylindrical tower, oriel chapel on a broad pillar. Preserved Gothic cellars with several staircases.
Interesting detailMaster Jan Hus dwelled here before leaving for Constance in 1414 under the patronage of Jindřich Lefl from Lažany. Sought by many film makers for its uniquity (i.e. fairytale Prince a Večernice or Ať žijí duchové kids movie).
ValuationThis castle is unique in its suppression of defense features and prefering housing functions. It was a luxurious mansion in its times and it offered an unusual comfort. It is also one of the few estates established during Václav IV's reign.
