| Short description | Picturesque Gothic kings castle established in the 13th century on the place of an older Roman estate. Charles IV, who often dwelled here and was encaged here as a child, included Loket among the cities which are not to be abandoned by the Czech Crown. Completely reconstructed during his son Václav IV's reign. Caesar Zikmund pawned the castle to the ©lik family property in the 15th century and during this family's over one century long reign was the castle rebuilt into a representative mansion. Wasted away in the 19th century, rebuilt into a town jailhouse, which was closed down in 1948. Given back to the city in 1992 and opened to public since 1993. |
| Expositions | Castle's constructional history and archeology, museum of porcelain and weapons, a Roman rotunda torso, Roman tower with an outlook, four-floors jailhouse with an exposition of torture, ceremonial hall, knights hall and a hall with Gothic frescos. The townhall in Loket townsquare contains museum of bookbinding. |
