| Short description | The keep was built in the beginning of the 14th century by the Ryzmberk's clan. Conquered and captured during Hussite wars. In the beginning of the 16th century reconstructed and changed in Renaissance style. After the conquest of Švéda in 1648 the keep started to fall apart. The Baroque castle with an eight side chapel was built in the ward in the middle of the 18th century. The planned regothisation never happened. Reconstructed and opened up, including terrace gardens, before 1991. |
| Expositions | The castle and terrace gardens are opened up only,the keep is not opened for visitors due to reconstruction works. Historically valuable interiors, such as the chapel or library. Interiors are allusively furnished with period furniture and collections. Expositions of the history and the meaning of the shrines. Exposition is divided into two rounds: THE SHRINE - a presentation of the unique Roman monument of a european importance - the shrines of Saint Maur with accompanying exposition, THE CASTLE - the castle's interiors (library, chapel, graphic saloon, tapestry hall, the red saloon). |
| Interesting detail | In 1985 Roman shrine of Saint Maur was found here. Conserving and scientific works hold back its planned exposure, which took place in May 2002. |

| Locations | 17 kms South from Karlovy Vary. The keep with the castle are a very visible dominant of the town. It is located on a spit of river Tepla, close to the town hall and a square with a church. There are terrace gardens in front of the castle. |

| Access and localities | |
| Arrive | Car The easiest access is road #20 from Toužim or from Karlovy Vary. Parking is possible in front of the keep, up to a limited number, and by town's hall. It is better to park a bit further from the keep, in newer estates. Public Transport Bečov is located on track #149 with arival from Mariánské lázně. The station is right in the town and is about 1 km far from the castle. |
