Short descriptionA clean Renaissance castle with arcade court (inspirated by italian palaces) built in 1567-82, not far from a Gothic fort from the 15th century. Changed into offices when owned by Lichtenštejns, reconstructed and open for public after 1958. A reconstructed Renaissance garden behind the castle.
ExpositionsTHE CASTLE
The castle in an unique example of italian Renaissance architecture built North from Alps. Among rare features are Manneristic interior decor and a beuatiful fountain in the court. Interiors of th emost beautiful castle halls in the 1st floor (Caesar, Venus and Hare hall, the hall of Five Senses) with unique stuke and paintings decor. The halls are slightly furnitured with period mobiliar. Chapel in 2nd floor also opened fro public.
MUSEUM
Museum exposition Bučovice in the History, a collection of the haban pottery, season exhibitions.
Interesting detailThe vault in the Hare hall - painter pictured a favorite perioud moral anagram - hares' rebellion against humans and dogs, their victory over them and the life in hare land. An unique example of Manneristic decor.
ValuationThe castle is a unique example of Renaissance architecture not only in Moravia but also in the central Europe. Its uniquity is, apart from other aspects, that it was built as a new estate, not by rebuilding previous objects.

Access and localities
ArriveCar
The best access is highway D1 from Brno, depart to road 50 towards Slavkov u Brna and when in Bučovice, go to the centre. You can park by a hotel not far from the castle, where is a large free parking lot.
Public Transport
Train station is right in the tow on track 340 between Brno and Kyjov. The castle id about 500 metres far, following the red mark.
