| Short description | First inhabitants already in the Late Bronze Age. First Slavs settle here around year 800. The castle site had been fortified when owned by prince Bořivoj I. In the last third of the 9th century. After 895 prince Spytihněv I. Had the rotunda of Saint Peter built here, its body has been preserved in its original form. One of the main residences of the Přemyslovec's clan in the 9th and 10th century. Roman prismatic tower built in the 12th century and probably then was the church also devoted to Saint Pavel. The castle site ceases in the 13th century. According to the Saint Vaclav's legends is this place linked with the education of the future Saint Václav. This tradition of the oldest knowledge centre had been supported by K. S. Amerling, who is, along with is wife, burried at the Budeč cemetery. |

| Interesting detail | Accoridng to the historical files by chronicler Václava Hájka z Libočan, the rotunda celebrated it's one millenium in 1905. Therefor we are celebrating 1100 years of age this year. An important pedagogist of the 19th century Karel Slavoj Amerling (1807-1884) and historians V. Davídek and O. Urban are burried in the cemetery. |
