| Short description | Gothic castle from the beginning of the 14th century, rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau, extended during Kryštof Harant from Polžice and Bezdružice. The chateau was wasting away and finally abandoned after a fire in 1830. Under gradual reconstruction in the 20th century, Harantovský Palace completely renovated. |
| Expositions | Areal with ruins of chateau estates. The 1st floor holds an exposition dedicated to the life and art of Kryštof Harant with a Renaissance interior, picture gallery and ethnographic exhibition introducing the life of common people in Podkrkonoší. Castle basement offers a stylish scullery, a room describing the life in Pecka town with a workable music box - orchestrion, and a dungeon in the cellars. |
| Interesting detail | Inventary contains one of the oldest and still workable orchestrions with several musical pieces. Castle water well is newly illuminated since season 2005. It was filled up with sand after the fire in 1830 and cleaned again 40 years ago by a group of enthusiasts. Yet the process was stopped at 56 metres for safety reasons. The bottom of the well isn't infested with poisonous gases, which is usual for wells, but there is a fresh air and even a draught which makes one wonder if the legends about Pecka's secret corridors are true. |
| Valuation | This place offers a beautiful view over Krkonoše with Sněžka and Černá hora (Black Mount.). Kumburk and Bradlec hills, on the West, with Medieval castles ruins, and Tábor with a pilgrimage church. South-east shows Zvičín - the highest peak of Podkrkonoši. |
