| Short description | Shortly after the city's foundation in 1377 a citadel was built here. Rebuilt into a castle during the Berks from Dubá era in the second half of the 16th century. Two more wings built to the Renaissnce castle before 1620. During the Valdštejn's clan's era after year 1689 was rebuilt and united into Baroque style by B. Canavall. In the 18th and 19th century was the castle put into rational use and turned into flats in 1905. Today is partially occupied by a museum. The north and south wings are lined with arcades. |
| Expositions | The exposition of the town museum of Bělá pod Bezdězem is of the region's history from the antiquity to the end of the 19th century, archeology and etnography. Some of the halls still have renaissance style painted girder ceilings, which have been recently renovated. The chapel with early Baroque furniture is also intriguing. Soon to be opened in sequences are expositions Occupation Bookbinder, Art works of students from the ZUŠ and the presentation of the Saint Augustin painitng by J.J. Heintsch. |
