| Short description | The iron tower, 60 metres high, was built by F. Prášil from the Czech Toursits Club's motion as a part of Anniversary Exhibition in 1891. It was conceived as a loose copy of the Eiffel Tower and it is cca 5 times smaller than its french preimage. Its glass-covered sightseeing gallery is in the height of 53 metres and it is accessible through 299 stairs. You can enjoy a splendid view over not only Prague but also the tower's wide surroundings. The construction was made by "První českomoravská strojírna" (The First Bohemian-Moravian Machine-Works) in Prague and it weights 170 tons. |
| Expositions | View over Prague from one of the highest places in the city. Exhibition "Jára Cimrman - The Genius Who Remains Unknown" in the tower basement. You can see for example the baby coach which used to carry Jára Cimrman, Jára's rocking horse and from his inventions for example a bicycle for firemen brigades or Louna trolley with a hand drive. Another exposition is about the Czech Tourists Club and more historical exponates celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Prague's Firemen Brigade. |
| Interesting detail | The lookout tower's top is at the same sea level as the top of the Eiffel Tower. It was built in 50 days - riveters were throwing the candent iron to their colleagues in higher floors who had to catch it with tongs. |
