Short descriptionThis church was built in 1169-82 as a part of a fortified Johanite Monastery, established by King Vratislav II. Gothic rebuilt in the middle of the 14th century, the present appearance comes from the Baroque rebuilding in 1640-60 by C. Lurag.
ExpositionsRemains of the Romanic masonry in the court and transversal body. Wooden, Late-Gothic sculpture of Madonna in the church gable. Main altar from 1730 with a painting by K. Škréta. Marble sculpture of the Great-Prior R. Colloreda-Walsee in the main body.
Interesting detailThe name "below the chain" is by the chain which used to close the monastery portal in the Middle Ages.
