Short descriptionKing Václav II. Established this monastery with church in 1285, it was finished in 1379. Gothic building of the monastery were distinguishly rebuilt in 1604-34, they gained the present appearance in the second half of the 17th century, but the present appearance of the church is from the rebuilding in 1727-31 by K.I. Dientzenhofer.
ExpositionsPreserved St. Barbora Gothic Cathedral in the church. Interior offers ceiling frescos by V.V. Reiner, paintings by K. Škréta, the main altar from 1731 with sculptures by F.M. Brokof and Müller, paintings by P.P. Rubens.
Interesting detailEminent persons of the Rudolfian times (i.e. constructor Oldřich Avostalis and sculptor Adrian de Vries) are buried in the church.
