| Short description | Renaissance castle built in 1526 on a place of former monastery, which was burnt to ashes by Bedrich from Donín in 1420. After year 1648 was the castle extended for one Baroque wing. Unkept after the fire in 1655 and finally in the end of the 17th century was rebuilt and unified in a Baroque style and it more or less gained today's face. Tha castle park has been gradually perfected with art plastics. The plastics on castle's court are accredited to M. Braun. |
| Expositions | The instalation of the town's museum contains permanent expositions - The Great People of Benátky County, Museum's History, Natural Environment of the Region, Astronomy in Antiqioty and Middle Ages, Memorial Halls of Benda Brothers and Bedřich Smetana. Exposition The lords of Dražice with a lot of interactive features for children and adults (i.e. writing with quill, making the coat of arms, trying on armor, building the Dražice castle). Castle's gala hall intrigues with its stuke decor and wall paintings. Rebuilt all-season exposition The Celtic's Games - in cooperation with association Keltoi, with also a lot of interactive features including a visit to a celtic hut and an opportunity to try premival working processes and games. Another long-term exposition Tycho Brahe and Benátky. |
| Interesting detail | Astronomer Tycho de Brahe lived in this castle since 1599 and even met here Johannes Kepler in 1600. Bedřich Smetana worked here as a music teacher to Thun's family between 1844-1848 and composed here his first sonata for piano. |
