Short descriptionA fort was established here probably by the end of the 13th or in the beginning of the 14th century, first written proof is from 1379. Rebuilt into a quite large castle object most likely in the second half of the 16th century. Started to waste away during Thirty Years war. Old castle was taken down in the 17th century and new Early Baroque one with amply decored chapel was established. Preserved in this shape. Park and deer park with precious wood species.
ExpositionsThe oldest findings from Choltice surroundings, crafts works examples, musical instruments, weapons, objects from Baroque apothecary, which was established by Romedius Konstantin Thun with his wife Barbora from Salm in 1672 andiot was to take care of poor people in the Choltice castle. This is the second oldest apothecary in Czechia, the very oldest one is in Klatovy. The village is preparing spaces to install the whole apothecary. Sightseeing tour includes St. Romedius Chapel. Castle park with many precious wood species.
